Why Combat?
We strive to understand what players need and want. Our staff consists of elite level players, past greats, and weekend warriors. Not only is our staff regarded as composite design, manufacturing, and engineering experts, but we are also die hard fans and players of the game.
Combat has the following corporate objectives:
- to “push the envelope” in the development of superior composite bat technology
- to raise awareness of the performance enhancing benefits of composite bats for slowpitch, fastpitch, adult, senior and youth baseball
- to identify and develop composite bat products which address the unique needs of niche markets currently not being addressed by existing bat brands
- to meet the needs and wants of players and retailers
- to provide the best customer service possible.
Our Promise:
We will continue to produce and design the most innovative, highest performing, best feeling and most durable bats possible. We will continue to support the softball and baseball communities through grass roots sponsorship and player development.
We will continue our obsession to make the “Best Bats” in the industry!
Why Composites?
Compared to aluminum, wood, and other materials used to make bats, composite materials (carbon, glass and Kevlar fibers embedded in a plastic resin) are lighter, stiffer and stronger.
Of most importance, unlike bats made of other materials, composites are anisotropic which means bats can be designed to have different stiffnesses and strengths in different directions.
The anisotropic property of composite materials allows Combat bat designers the opportunity to increase stiffness along the handle (reducing vibrations and reducing sting) and to decrease stiffness along the barrel (increasing “trampoline” effect and thus improving bat performance), resulting in Combat all composite bats with optimal performance and feel.
Further, composite bats can be designed for a wide selection of Combat® Swingweights.
What makes the Combat line unique?
Currently, all composite bats are only available, or generally available, in the softball category where they have clearly demonstrated the composite advantage over aluminum bats. Specifically, and without question, they are the highest performing (greatest hitting distance) slowpitch bats with the best feel and largest sweetspot. The Combat line includes all composite bats in all categories (adult, senior, youth baseball slowpitch, fastpitch softball). Currently, the Combat youth baseball bat is the only Little League approved all composite bat.
I have heard other composite bats break?
All bats can break. Some competitors have had excessive breakage. However, most composite bats, and specifically Combat bats are very durable and include full warranty coverage against breakage. Most importantly, composite bats do not dent like aluminum bats and can be used at relatively cold temperatures unlike premium aluminum bats.
What about vibration?
All bats when hit away from the sweetspot, particularly on the end or on the taper, generate vibrations which travel to the players hands and cause a stinging sensation. These vibrations can be minimized by altering the bat stiffness and composite materials can be designed to alter stiffness with the promise of reduced stinging sensation. Further, composite materials are known to improve damping of vibrations as compared to metals like aluminum.
Bat Feature Definitions (all related to industry averages):
- BA: Balanced – balanced swing weight for control hitters who are looking for more bat speed with lower effort and precision control of line drive hits.
- EL: End Loaded – higher swing weight for power hitters who are looking for increased hit distance. Best all around bat weighting for average and above average players.
- XEL: Extra End Loaded – highest swing weight for the larger and stronger elite level power hitters who are looking to hit that extra long ball.
What is your warranty policy?
Our policy includes a one year, one time replacement limited warranty against manufacturing defects and breakage. See the warranty policy [more] for more details.
It is Combat's policy to design and manufacturer all our softball bats to meet current industry standards that exist from all Softball Associations as they exist at June 30, 2004.
All our bat models of different weights and swing weighting (balanced, end loaded, extra end loaded) have been tested by Association Approved Laboratories at great expense to ensure our policy has been met and that the products are compliant.
